Commercial Appeal Memphis Tigers Basketball Beat Reporter Mark Giannotto confirmed via email from Matt Stanley's father that Memphis did, in fact, offer Stanley a written full scholarship.
Matt Stanley's father Jim emailed this morning to clarify: "Matt was offered a scholarship. We have it in writing. The timing was just bad."— Mark Giannotto (@mgiannotto) April 20, 2017
The news was part of another bad day for the University of Memphis program. Earlier Wednesday Markel Crawford announced he would transfer to Ole Miss. 92.9FM's Gary Parrish tweeted about the significance of this late Wednesday.

Thursday, Yahoo! College Basketball Writer Jeff Eisenberg (scheduled to appear on the Gary Parrish Show Thursday at 5:25pm CST) added to the story.
Did Memphis really lose a recruit to Division II Ouachita Baptist? I spoke to his high school coach to find out. https://t.co/uwbBhKazJI— Jeff Eisenberg (@JeffEisenberg) April 20, 2017
