Week 6 Edition

Week 5 is in the books and the injury bug bites once again, and this time it's another first round pick going down.  Odell Beckham will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing ankle surgery.  He joins David Johnson as first rounders suffering a big injury, but fortunately for DJ owners is if they survive through the season, they get their stud back for the Playoffs.  Unfortunately, OBJ was not the only Giants WR to be lost for the year, Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Harris are both done for 2017.

So here we are heading into Week 6, and for the most part we know what every team is and what their backfield situation is (I'm looking at you San Francisco.)  If you are 0-5, Bennett and I will try our best to get you back into contention, but one more loss and chances are, your season is done.  Without anymore rambling, let's get to our picks for the week.

5 Pickups

Ben

1. RB Adrian Peterson (Cardinals) - While writing this piece for the 92.9 Line, Peterson gets traded to the Cardinals and Chris Johnson has been let go.  I know, some folks see Peterson struggle in New Orleans and want nothing to do with him.  I get that, but if you are in need for a bye week replacement, I think Bruce Arians gives AD every chance to succeed there.

2. RB Elijah McGuire (Jets) - It's next man up for the Jets.  McGuire started the season as the Jets third string RB, and now with injuries to both Matt Forte and Bilal Powell.  Both of those guys are questionable, and McGuire could get a full workload against a struggling Patriots defense this week.

3. RB Matt Brieda (49ers) - The first two guys are pick-ups who I think could help you out this week or next; the following three are guys I think you need to own that could pay off big time when it comes to the fantasy playoffs.  Matt Brieda received more snaps than Carlos Hyde this past week.  Kyle Shanahan has said he will go with the "hot hand," with Hyde getting the start.  Hyde has a very short leash, it will be interesting to watch this situation develop.

4. RB Marlon Mack (Colts) - Could this be the year where Frank Gore finally loses it?  It looks like that could be the case in Indianapolis, as Mack looked really good this past weekend.  He was just a yard short of finding paydirt twice last week.  I think this will be a committee the next few weeks, with Mack taking hold on the job by Week 10.

5. WR Mike Williams (Chargers) - The Chargers 1st round pick is getting closer and closer to making his debut.  I know it's a crowded receiving corp, but this is a 1st round pick.  He will be thrown in the fire so they can see what they have with him.

Bennett

1. TE Ed Dickson (Panthers) - With Olsen out it looks like Dickson has proven he will get a lot of looks in this offense.  Solid game last week followed up by a massive game Sunday at Detroit.  With TE’s tough to come by I’d put in a waiver claim for Dickson.

2. WR Nelson Agholar (Eagles) - 3 TDs on the season.  He’s not going to rack up the yards with a ton of targets, but with Carson Wentz willing to throw the deep ball often it looks like Agholar is a big play waiting to happen on a weekly basis now.

3. RB Marlon Mack (Colts) - Could be a 1 hit wonder this week but had a huge game against the 49ers and now has 2 TDs on the season.  If Indy is planning for life after Frank Gore next year they may start giving Mack touches on a consistent basis.

4. RB Dion Lewis (Patriots) - 14 touches in the last 2 weeks. Belicheck likes him.  Worth a bye week fill if you need a running back, especially if White or GIlleslee gets injured.

5. WR Mike Wallace (Ravens) - Two big games in a row…could things be trending in the right direction for Wallace??

Drop 'Em

Ben - RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) & WR Donte Moncrief (Colts) - It appears the great career of CJ2K could be coming to an end, he has been dropped by his team, so he needs to be dropped from your team.  Moncrief has been a HUGE disappointment this season.  I know some of it is due to Andrew Luck being injured, but Kamar Aiken is the better WR right now in Indy behind TY Hilton.  There is no excuse for that.

Bennett - RB Derrick Henry (Titans) & RB Jaquizz Rodgers (Bucs) - If you don’t own Demarco Murray there’s no reason at this point to roster Henry.  Murray dominating the touches.  Rodgers is in same situation.  If you don’t own Doug Martin there’s no reason to roster Jaquizz now.

Patience Will Pay Off

Ben - WR Sammy Watkins (Rams) -  It's been a rough couple of weeks for Watkins owners, 1 catch for 17 yards combined.  I get it...  He may not be worth starting right now, but I think Jared Goff and Watkins get on the same page sooner rather than later.

Bennett - TE Evan Engram (Giants) - With OBJ and Brandon Marshall going down, as well as Sterling Shepard leaving with ankle sprains, Engram’s role will expand greatly in this offense going forward.  Do not drop him yet.
