The NCAA Tournament Field Is Set, Sign Up Now for the Sonic Bracket Challenge and Take on the 92.9 Experts

The 2017 NCAA Tournament is set, and now you can take on the “92.9 FM Experts” in the Sonic Bracket Challenge, in which you can win prizes that include a $500 Visa Gift Card courtesy of BMI Memphis, a Samsung 55” 4K Ultra HD LED-TV courtesy of Interactive Solutions, and another $500 Visa Gift Card courtesy of Landmark Heating and Air.

 

Defending champion Villanova Wildcats earned the Tournament Selection Committee’s overall No. 1 seed and will headline the East Region. Despite earning the No. 1 overall seed, the Wildcats’ region includes perhaps the strongest No. 2 seed in the Duke Blue Devils. The ACC Tournament champions were becoming an increasingly popular pick to earn a No. 1 seed after defeating both North Carolina in the semi-final and Notre Dame in the final last night in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.

 

FedExForum will be the home to the Semi-Finals and Finals of the South Region, a region that is headlined by North Carolina, who earned the No. 1 seed. The Kentucky Wildcats, winners of both the SEC Regular Season title and Conference Tournament title will be the No. 2 seed in the region, one that features other teams of local interest in Arkansas (No. 8 seed), Middle Tennessee State (No. 12 seed), Cincinnati (No. 6 seed), and Northern Kentucky (No. 15 seed) who will face in-state foe Kentucky in the first round.

 

Kansas and Gonzaga earned the other No. 1 seeds in the Midwest and West Regions respectively. Louisville earned the No. 2 seed in the East Region while Arizona was awarded the No. 2 seed in the West.

 

The NCAA Tournament will begin with the First Four in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday night when Mt. St. Mary’s will take on the University of New Orleans  (5:40 p.m. CST, TruTV) for the right to face Villanova on Thursday. Immediately following that game, Kansas State will face Wake Forest (8:10 p.m. CST, TruTV) for the right to play to play Cincinnati on Thursday in a 6/11 matchup.

 

Then, the First Four will continue on Wednesday when North Carolina Central faces UC-Davis (5:40 p.m. CST, TruTV) for the right to play Kansas on Friday. Following that contest Southern California will play Providence (8:10 p.m. CST, TruTV) for the right to play AAC Tournament Champion SMU on Friday.
