Tigers Fall 70-60 in AAC Tournament Semifinals

Will Miss NCAA Tournament 4th Straight Year

March 11, 2018 - 10:31 am

It was perhaps the strongest 1st half performance of the season for the Memphis Tigers. They led #8 Cincinnati 42-29 at half, and were on their way to advancing to the AAC Championship Game. Jamal Johnson was on fire from 3 in the half, and led the Tigers in scoring with 17pts. But that signature Bearcats defense came alive in the 2nd half, holding the Tigers to only 18pts in the half, and secured the victory 70-60 in the AAC Tournament Semifinals.

The Tigers are officially eliminated from the NCAA Tournament, and now we wait to see if they have any shot at making the NIT. It is their 4th straight season not making the NCAA Tournament.

With the season coming to an end, the status of Tubby Smith's future with the program is very much up in the air. Full coverage of the Memphis Basketball coaching situation and recapping the 17-18' season starts at 9am Monday on 92.9FM & 680AM.
