Freshman Brianne Vande Griend and senior Alyssa Meuth combined for 21 of Alabama's 47 kills to lead the Crimson Tide to a 3-0 victory over Furman on Friday at the Bama Bash. The win puts Alabama at 3-2 on the season, while the loss drops the Paladins to 2-3 overall.

W. Volleyball. Kayla Fitterer Notches 14 Kills as Volleyball Sweeps Previously Unbeaten Toledo
The volleyball team (2-2) opened up the 2010 Bama Bash in impressive fashion, defeating the Toledo Rockets (3-1) by a score of 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-23). Sophomore Kayla Fitterer paced the offense with 14 kills, while fellow sophomore Kelsey Anderson scooped up a game-high 11 digs.

W. Volleyball. Volleyball Sweeps a Pair of Matches at Bama Bash on Friday
The volleyball team played two matches on the opening day of the annual Bama Bash sweeping both Toledo and Furman 3-0 in the CAVE. In its first match, the Crimson Tide took down previously unbeaten Toledo by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-23 before knocking off Furman in a thriller night match 25-20, 25-14, 25-23. The wins moved Alabama to 3-2 on the season, while the Rockets fell to 3-1 and the Paladins 2-3.

W. Cross Country. Crimson Tide Opens Season With a Third-Place Finish
The University of Alabama women's cross country team opened up the 2010 season with a third-place finish at the Belmont/Vanderbilt Opener Friday evening. The Crimson Tide had three runners score in the top-10 on the 4-kilometer course at Percy Ward Park.

W. Soccer. Soccer to Cap Off Week Against Chattanooga
The Alabama soccer team (2-1) will compete in its lone match of the week as it will face Chattanooga (1-3) on Sunday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The Crimson Tide is coming off its first loss of the season while the Lady Mocs, who will also only play one match this week, is coming off a 2-0 loss at Austin Peay.

W. Volleyball. Volleyball Hosts Annual Bama Bash this Weekend
The volleyball team will continue its season this week at home as it hosts the Bama Bash Sept. 3-4. Friday, the Crimson Tide will face Toledo at 12 p.m. CT and Furman at 7 p.m. CT. Alabama will close out the tournament on Saturday with UAB at 1 p.m. CT.
